Last night the Metro NY Association of the United Church of Christ held an ecclesiastical council to examine Jennifer for ordination. We were blessed with a wonderful group of people who made it to the council gathering, including my boss from the office and a great UCC buddy who happened to be in town from Naples, FL.
Jen did a great job presenting her faith journey and theological beliefs, then answered questions from the floor. She was calm, cool, and downright fashionable in a really great sweater and skirt combo.
And the results are in! Jen passed! I'm going to be the Reverend's wife!
Everyone is invited to the ordination service. It's going to be a great time. The No-Longer-Revered Dr. Norman Kansfield will be preaching and the Red Hook Ramblers jazz band will be playing some of their favorite old time gospel hits. Broadway UCC's fabulous choir and wonderful organist will provide excellent music, and the NY Metro-Association will, of course, be taking care of the ordination liturgy. Clergy-types are asked to robe for procession - red is the color of the day. And there will be a lovely reception in the undercroft following the service.
